The Zone Diet is a a book authored by Dr. Barry Sears,describing possibilities to have a good and healthy diet based on a right balanse of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. For the maximum calorie burning it is indicating a diet limted to40% carbohydrates, 30% proteins and 30% fats. Nevertheless, the theory of the diet is based on hormones and not on calories, as it is claimed within the book that most people are insulin resistant, therefore carbohydrates make them gain weight. The explanation is that carbohydrate consuption produces insulin, which then causes to many calories to be stored as fat. Also as controling hormonal reactions, the author bring into discussion the eicosanoids. The bad eicosanoids, which are crated by carbohydrates, increases insulin production, and therefore again at the end of the chain reaction the outcome is more fat in the organism.
