A Boring Story
(Chekhov, Anton)

Publicidade
About Chekhov?s Short Story A Boring StoryI will not dare to rate ?A Boring Story?. I am not so petty as that.Just so much:Classicism is the child of time and the father of timelessness. C's story is as actual now as it was at the moment he wrote it. There is nothing more eternal about human beings as their essential questions. Answers vary along with cultural development and fashion but the questions remain forever open. From this point of view, indeed, the book is a boring story. Oh, but what an immense pleasure we find in torturing ourselves again and again with useless questions! Specially when we have such an inspiring companion as Nikolay Stephanovitch. I cultivate a great affinity for the Russian classics. Why? Simple to guess. This warm heart, this psyological insight, this pure and playful sense of humour, this natural and sincere tone, are qualities that I find in a Chekhov Play, a Dostoievski novel and the dear mother of my mother. And also:Enjoy reading!
