Resumo de The Butterfly Lion - Michael Morpurgo

There was a boy who was at boarding school in Wiltshire. He missed his home so badly that he decided to escape from school. On his way to catch a train to home, he heard a car slowing down behind him, and he was scared even though it was nothing. He was scared all the time of being caught. He ran into a gate, which was right in front of him.

There was a huge mansion there, and he met an old lady who owned it. She asked him what he wanted. Though he didn?t answer, she knew that he was a running-away-boy. It was raining, so she anyway invited him to her home.She lives alone with her only dog in such a big house since her husband past away. She served tea and some scones to the boy. They sit down to the table, face to face, by the window. The boy was looking out of the window all the time while she was talking to him. He saw a lion-shape shadow on a hill. It looked so real for him that he kept staring.

As she realised what he was watching, she started telling him about her story, a story of her husband and their lion.
She and her husband had known each other from their childhood. When she met him, he had been staying with his uncle and aunt in England to go to school, but he used to live in Africa with his parents because of his father?s business. There he met a white lion cub. Unfortunately, his mother; lioness was killed bythe boy'sfather. He loved this cub so much that he managed to convince his father to keep him in their house.

The white cub and he got very close, and they would even sleep together in his bed every night. One day, when he became age of eight, his parents decided to send him away to England for proper education. And also they decided to give the white lion away to a circus. He was shocked and didn?t want the lion to live in the circus where he would be put behind a bar. So he tried to release him to free, but the lion loved him so much, and he kept coming back to him instead of staying the wild.

The lion was taken away by the circus people, and he was sent to school in England after all. But he couldn?t forget about his lion, and promised himself that someday, when he grew up, he would come to find him; his lion.The old lady and her husband were always together when they were young, and he would tell her the story of his lion. But after they grew up, he had to go to a war, and she lost a contact with him since she received the last letter from him. She decided to go to France after him, hoping to see him again somehow.

Coincidently, or not, she did meet him again in France. After they spend some time together, they happened to see a poster of a circus, which was written ?White Prince? on it. He was sure that it was HIS white lion. Ages pastsince he was separated with him, finally he find his white lion as he promised. They went back to England, and three of them lived together in that mansion.

After telling this story, the old lady told the boy to go back to school. So he did. He went back to school. And at school, he happened to find out the fact that the old lady who lived in a great mansion past away years ago. He soon came back to her place, but he could never see her again. But he was sure that he would never forget about her and their White Lion.
