Publicidade
Ebenezer Scrooge is a man of business in London of the 18th century, who is visited by three spirits in thisperennial Yuletide tale of reform. He has been a mean, stingy person most of his life, but he didn't start outthat way. Scrooge worked for Mr. Fezziwig, who was kind tohis employees, fell in love but never married, and went intopartnership with Jacob Marley who died exactly seven yearsago. His nephew invites him to Christmas dinner each year, but he always refuses. When men come collecting for thepoor, he asks whether the workhouses are still in operation. His sister died young. There is no single incident that wecan point to and say that's where he became a money-grubbingmiser -- it seemed to happen gradually, as each unpleasantevent in life made him more bitter. The first spirit shows Ebenezer events that have happened tohim at Christmastimes in the Past. The second takes him to Christmas in the Present. The third reveals shadows of things that might happen in thefuture. These apparitions are introduced by the ghost of Jacob, whois wearing spiritual chains that he manufactured forhimself during his lifetime. He wants to make sure thatEbenezer avoids the same fate. Based on what the spiritsshow him, Scrooge decides to change his ways and become abetter man.
