The Great Gatsby
(F. Scott Fitzgerald)
Let's say we went walking down near a river, the water flowing beautifully into the earth. We walk near the edge of the river, dip our hands into the water, and drink the cool refreshing liquid, letting it run down our throats. Now, pretend a really foul person with greasy hair and filthy hands wades into the river upstream from us and relieves himself. That is the kind of experiance that comes from reading this book. Fitzgerald may have written some famous novels, but this one is a mockery of society. A corrupt bilionare is killed by a desperate man who's wife was incidentally hit by the bilionare's car. All the things that happen in between are a waste of paper. Who cares that this man's wife is in love with this woman's husband. It just seems this whole novel's pointis to justify adultry. If you read carefully, all the events that lead to Gatsby's death are undoubtedly tied to two different cases of adultry. Anyone who doesn't want there spouse to cheat on them should obviously ban this book from their bookcases.
