Next book of the the genius of intelligent humour about the Discworld. Again, we're acompanying Commander Vimes from Ankh-Morpork City Watch during the criminal investigation. The death of the formal leader of the radical fraction of the dwarf society, which has established an elite comune in the dungeons under the city, may cause serious consequences on the inter-species arena - the next anniversary of the Koom Valley battle is coming. That battle was a symbol of courage and honor in battle for both sides - dwarfs and trolls. Traditionally during the anniversary festivals grand-grand-grand(...)children of ancient warriors from Koom are going to make a bloody replay, but this time the temperature in the city is rising every hour, cause everything is suggesting, that the killer was a troll... In addition Vimes, under the pression of vampire lobby, employed a new member - Sally. So, Sergeant Angua has some serious problems with beeing calm and Captain Carrot - with maintaining a fragile peace between both ladies. This time Vimes cannot turn into a workaholic - punctually at 6 pm he is making strange noises while reading intriguing book "Where is my Cow?" to Sam Vimes Junior. As usual in Pratchetts books - don't even think about guessing the ending. Everything is possible in this story.
