This is the fourth book of the Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy series. The Title of this book is a message left by the Dolphins when they departed Earth just before it was demolished to make way for hyperspatial express route.
The book begins with Arthur hitch-hiking randomly through the galaxy and arriving at the last place in the universe. Only to land on Earth continuing exactly as before it was destroyed except the dolphins are gone.
Arthur returns to his miraculously undemolished home and finds a pole of junk mail and a decorative fish bowl with the words inscribed "So long and thanks for all the fish"
He then encounters many other people who have recieved similar fishbowls, including a woman named Fenchruch who may be the only other person on the planet who remembers that it was destroyed and Wonko the Sane who long ago decided that the world had gone mad had built a wall around it with nothing outside except himself and a nice beach in california.
Arthur falls in love with Fenchurch and together they explore to find out how the earth came back by holding onto there fishbowls to their ears.
