The role of theory has tremendously increased with the establishment of our modern day scientific method. This role has increased to an extant that there appears to be a bifurcation between theory and sense-experience. This bifurcation between theory and sense-experience becomes more visible in case of sub-atomic researches and macro-level researches,e.g.,the applied use of red shift to judge the measurement of stars at a distance of many lightyears. Similarly in a micro-level studyof particle, a scientist's faculty of imagination leave far behind his ability to observe. In both above mentioned instances, our faculty of sense-experience fails to match up withthe faculty ofour imagination. It is not difficultto notice an apparent unbridgeable gap between what we can observe and what we can imagine.
It is easy to understand now that howthe notion of truthhas beenlost in our present day science. This stated fact has been stressed by Karl Popper,Thomas Kuhn and Paul Feurbrande in their writings. For instance, Paul Feurbrande stated that "anything goes" in science.A theory is validated not because it can take us to truth but actually because of its heuristic value or explanatory power. This deep epistemological as well asmethodological problem of bridging the what we can see and what we can imagine is a challenge before humanity as never before. science takes its place as a guiding force for humanity. Can the intuitive faculty as visualized in various tradition as a faculty to see can help here. This is justone proposal.
