"WHORE written by Tanika Lynch is a book about a 14-year old girl named Kamone and her stuggles in life. Kamone's mother is a drug addicted prostitute who has contracted HIV. Despite her HIV, her mother continues to use drugs, turn tricks and ignore Kamone and her two younger siblings. Kamone does not know who her father is, but he was one of her mother's dirty tricks. One day, Kamone's mother abandons them alone in a whore house. Kamone is only 14 years old and is left to take care of her 6 year old and 3 year old siblings. Kamone loves her siblings more than anything in the world and will do whatever is necessary to keep them together. Kamone is too young and uneducated to get a regular job, so she turns to prostitution. In order to do this and not feel the effects of being used by dirty men, Kamone uses drugs. She makes good money doing this, but soon finds out just how dangerous the street can really be. Soon, Kamone finds herself addicted to the drugs and she will do anything to obtain them. She falls into a trap that is set up by a fellow prostitute and she ends up getting beaten and raped by over 15 guys. She is left for dead in a dumpster in an alley. Later she is found by a man named Lucci who will change her life forever. Lucci is a drug lord, but has a heart to help Kamone with all of her problems. After she kills the pimp woman who once took care of her as a whore, she turns to Lucci for help. He takes her and her siblings in and nurses her back to health. He bathes Kamone and her siblings with many gifts, a nice home. luxurious clothes, cars, toys, ect. They live as one big happy family until one day Lucci goes out of state on business and his twin brother, David moves in to set Kamone up. David is very jealous over Kamone and Lucci and introduces drugs back in Kamone's life. For a solid week, he drugs her and gets her addicted again. While she is strung out on drugs, he makes her commit sexual acts with another woman while he video tapes her. Kamone is unaware of what is happening because of the drugs. Later when Lucci comes home, he watches these videos that his brother made and kicks Kamone out. Kamone is pregnant with Lucci's baby, but he is aware of this when he kicks her out. With nowhere to go, she goes to live with David because she is unaware of his set ups. He tries to make her love him, but Kamone knows about how David killed his own mother. So, Kamone just plays with him and makes him think that she likes him just so he will not hurt her. The book ends by Lucci learning the truth about what happened and when he comes to look for Kamones at David's house, he begins to fight with David. David is killed at the end of the story and Kamone ends up going back to Lucci and they end up getting married.

This is a very good book. You will not put it down once you start reading it. It is a true picture about what young girls experience when they live in the street. This book will give the reader a clear view of what young girls experience when they are forced to turn to the streets for love and attention. I very highly recommend it.
