The MART priceless assets consist of 12, 000 works, including paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures. Its permanent collections are mainly dedicated to futurism, from its origins (with artists like Carrà, Balla, Severini and Russolo) to the first postwar period (mainly evolving around Deper, Prampolini, Thayhat, Di Bosso, Dottori, Fillia, Iras Baldassari, Marinetti and Crali).

Some of the works are linked to architecture, theatre and stage designing, which is a proof of the vitality of the different artistic circles at international level. Thanks to the presence of prestigious collections ? like the Vaf Shiftung Collection and the one by Augusto Giovanardi ? the MART Museum can boast works of ART of high artistic value that can offer a comprehensive overview on 20 century Italian art.

The Exhibition

For the first time ever in China, the exhibition "Figures and Images of 20 Century Italy" will display 119 works of art that are representative of the artistic debate that characterized the past century. The works, from the permanent collections of the Museum, show the evolution of Italian art from divisionisms to futurism, from the "Novecento" movement to the so called "anti-Novecento", from geometrical to informal abstraction, from the Italian "arte povera" ("poor art") movement to neo-expressionism.
From geometric to informal abstraction, from traditional oil paintings to vanguard installation works, from Umberto Boccioni to Giorgio Morandi, you' ll feel you' re traveling in 20th Century Italy in a time machine! The exhibition "Figures and Images of 20th Century Italy" at Guangdong Museum of Art on Ersha Dao from Oct.25th to Dec. 10th presents a visual feast of masterpieces to you, all in the same space and the same time. One hundred works, spanning the entire 20th century have been brought from MART (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto) in Trento Autonomous Province of Italy. It' s a cultural banquet in Italian flavors and if you have even the slightest interest in art, you won' t miss it. Besides, at only RMB 15 yuan, much cheaper than the air ticket to Italy.
The Museum

Established in 1987 as a public institution supporting the Administration of the Trento Autonomous Province, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto (MART) covers 16,000 square meters dedicated to modern and contemporary art and distributed in 3 different premises.

MART is much more than an art museum in the traditional sense, as it offers a privileged venue for observation, documentation and research, thanks to the presence of several art collections, archives and a library dedicated to the history of 20 century art (including writings by famous artists, general catalogues and rare books on futurism). The MART Museum can boast years of research activity, which is the starting point of its exhibitions and publications of catalogues and monographs.
