Time To Accept The Burden And Stop Blamming Others .
(Daniel Owen Gibson)
During Black History Month , commendation and adorations were bestowed among blacks that demonstrated perserverance and dilligence in turmoil againstracial discrimmination . The blood which saturated the rich soilsof Mississippi , Alabama , Georgia , Tennessee , Florida , North and SouthCarolina , and cities in the north , to this day are engraven with the footprints of the bold and daring men and women that took the risk just to handle the pen and sign their mark on the ballot. They acknowledged the opportunity for freedom and equity is based uponthe sacrifice of self so that others can benefit .The voices of these martyrs are now silent , embellished the historical arichives in our nation's capital and libraries throughout our land . Fast forward to 2006 , The social and economic inequities confront blacks today and the desire to succeed involves the same determination and persistance simular as their decendants . Among these audacious figures , a middle class arose to build on the foundation of self-reliance , discipline , personal initative and faith to create the pyramid within the obscurity . They faced the blatant mockery and bitterness , hatred and violence , not at the hands of white men and women , but these cruel attacks were directed from the hands of their own race . Labeled" uncle tom " and " traitor " the only crime they commited was the chance to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps ! . Tired of the weak excuses and self pity among some in the black community , this group regardless of the persecution , set the focus on the goal and pursued the quest to obtained knowledge as the key to achieve the dream . Their labor was not in vain .
