Resumo de Alice?s Adventures In Wonderland (1865

Lewis Carrol is a genius in his creation of a mysterious and bizarre world that exists down a rabbit hole. It is into this fantasy land that a young headstrong girl called Alice leads the reader. Once down the rabbit hole Alice continually catches glimpses of a white rabbit in a waistcoat, wearing gloves and mumbling to himself about his tardiness. Curious Alice cannot help but follow the white rabbit in order to see exactly what it is he is late for. Eventually the rabbit goes through a door that is too small for Alice to fit through but with the help of some unusual food and beverages she eventually shrinks enough to follow the rabbit through the tiny door. The rabbit has at this stage disappeared from Alice?s sight so she explores this Wonderland in order to find him. On her Adventures she meets some very strange and interesting characters, such as a smoking caterpillar who gives her some wonderfully inane advice in the form of a fascinating and amusing poem entitled "Father William". This verse is absolutely delightful and never fails to bring a smile to the lips. We then move onto one of the more unnerving chapters in the book called "Pepper and the Pig" in which Alice comes across a house filled with smoke. In the house Alice meets the duchess who is cooking while holding a screaming baby and a cat with a cheesy grin and a disappearing act. The Duchess is abrupt and rude to Alice and rough with the baby. In the end the duchess hands the baby to Alice which then turns into a pig and escapes into the woods. Alice then continues her journey only to encounter more crazy characters at The Mad Hatters Tea Party. During the event The Mad Hatter and The March Hare aim verbal barbs at Alice and the Dormouse falls asleep while telling strange tales. Eventually, Alice finds the white rabbit playing croquet with the queen of hearts and is invited to play along though to her dismay during the game she managers to offend the queen who orders Alice?s head to be cut off. At the end of Lewis Carrols beautifully crafted story Alice wakes up and is left wondering if Wonderland and all its bizarre creature were all part of a fantastical dream. This is such a charming and magical story because the reader too becomes so pulled into Wonderland that they are also left wondering if this was all Alice?s dream or a place that we secretly hope is real hiding somewhere our imaginations have never pondered. I know I choose to believe in Wonderland as every time I read it, it makes my heart smile.
