Pride And Prejudice
(Jane Austen)

Publicidade
Jane Austen surely must have had us in mind to be writing books that appealed so much to the masses that her books are the recommended texts in school and directors are still trying to recreate her magic to earn their money. Her stories have entertained many and made millions for others! The pure English setting of the book, the old time rigid ways of the English lend an air of sophistication and warmth to the story. If you have already passed the teen age without readingthis book? it isn?t too late to begin now. The absolute fantasies I shared with Elizabeth all through the story remain to date ? the best memories of my reading. No actor can fill my imagination of Mr.Darcyexcept forthe lines of Jane Austen. And if you assume the book is about just them ? then you are mistaken. It is the story of the most important aspects of life ? relationships. The relationship of a wife and her husband, the relationship of a father and daughter, the relationship of the courted and the courting, the relationship of a MAN and a WOMAN. Follow the family of Elizabeth through their good times and bad. Know Mrs.Bennet as the WOMAN next door whom you probably refer to as mean. Get closer to Mr.Bennet who resigned himself to his library to avoid the house full of women! Understand how a woman?s silence leads a man into misunderstanding always. And then finally get to know the big E.G.O we share through Elizabeth and Darcy. The sheer bliss of walking through the country side, enjoying the dances, visiting the tantrumized nobility is so indescribable, that it?s only Jane Austen who can do justice to it.How pride and prejudice are the two vices that decide the course of your life ? and mostly in the wrong direction is what you see through out the book. But my favourites are always the lines between Mr.Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth. The tooth for tooth and nail for nail responses between the two make for such a delightful read that only Jane Austen could have penned them!In a few lines, the story revolves around Elizabeth, her sister Jane and their family? How the poor girls meet the rich boys. How the rich boys fall for the country-side simplicity of the two girls. And finally how families play the roles of angels and devils in shapingtheir lives. It?s a book that you would pick on a leisurely Sunday afternoon with the rain, the breeze and some tea for company.
