A young lady from a poor but respectable family in 18th century England meets an interesting but rich gentleman, but thinks it impossible he could get interested in her. Actually, deep down in her thoughts she hopes to marry him and have a better life, but realizing it seems impossible labels him a proud and conceited individual. Finally, they both fall in love and the marriage is inevitable.
From the times when women didn't usually have jobs and getting married was the only option. However, against all odds in the 21st century they still dream of finding a loving partner and raising a happy family.
