Poetic Interludes
(ANCHOR BOOKS)
This anthology of poetry edited b Kelly Deacon is fronting with pictures of butterflies ... but the snowdrops and daffodils are missing ...
It is described as a classic collection of poems ... incorporating ... thoughts of friends: family: nature and the world around us ... with a hope that the poems contained therein will spread sunshine: dreams and emotiions ... all hearts and minds stuff, I assure you.
I decided to trip the light fantastic and read a poem: entitled: NO MAGIC which is a ragged ending type of poetic contruction that allows us room for a good tidy up job ...
The lines which start off the Poem are:
Where the magic? Where the joy? contines with To hell with all wars! Voices to sing: Children of gloom: Children of doom: and last of all ... Born to die ...
well on this day of all days, "Remembrance Sunday" ... they are not dead but liveth including these children that are referred to in this poem ... the strength of the poet is in writing a very long ... narrative .. and asking questions which none of us what to hear and certainly most of us dont like the answers given.
The Catholic a poem by SM Thompson deals with the themes of "love" "grief" "anger" at the death of Sydney's wife ... the recitative .... Take me in your arms and rock me ... adds to the poignancy of belief... obviously seen in the choice of title ... there are no overt sectarian lines in this poem ... it has a freedom of expression and leads us onto the conclusive line "Take your place at the top" ... heaven awaits ...
A wonderful collection of poems produced by Forward Press Ltd., UK.
great reading ... read on ...
