Scientific visualization using 3D computer graphics has become a major challenge. Immersion and interaction with a 3D environment and comprising models of infinite size and complexity shall be as realistic as possible t create a 4D environment. Attributes of appearance, perspective, visibility, sounds, illumination, etc. are integrated into the 3D environment to enable a sense of presence. Today, many industries and organizations produce 3D models that are complex from CAD drawings, items such as buildings, production plants, aircraft, ships; - landscapes with GIS; geological data for mineral exploration; medical visualizations; complex simulations, scanned or photo graphically generated; are just some of the 3D models now available. These complex models can contain millions of 3D primitives and objects, with faces, vertices, dimension, and attribute data sets. Data sets can also contain many parameters associated with the 3D model. Accessing these 3D models in real-time can now be achieved using the latest PCs, 3D engines, and using broadband for high bandwidth and low latency procucing a 4D effect. Real-time processing, acquisition, and visualization with immersive and interaction are possible with high frame rates. Graphics cards and software techniques have been developed to accelerate rendering, etc. of the data sets. Latest PCs with high-end graphics cards provide astounding results. When 3D Models are used in a 3D environment these techniques enable a sense of presence for the users simulating 4D; this 3D environment enables full 3D movement, with voice, sound, and interaction with objects and other users or avatars (up to 32 users can be present).
