Around The World In 80 Dates
(Jennifer Cox)

Publicidade
A seasoned travel writer and broadcaster, Jennifer Cox,offers a book called ?Around the World in 80 Dates?. The writer chronicles herfeat of dating 80 men around the world- (Europe, Asiaand the U.S.A) with the intention of finding a soul mate. The introductorychapter is honest and charmingly frank and she strikes a chord with all femalereaders with her single status and her agonizing periods of self-doubt. Youexpect a travelogue cum sociological treatise with a good bit of romance thrownin. Well, don?t. What makes it tedious reading is the way she goes about it,racing from one date to another and the superficial treatment of the dates. Youdo not get to know men of different cultures, nor do you go to interestingplaces and all the while you wonder how she will get her ?soul-mate? if shetreats people the way she does. The next book should probably be from theperspective of her dates. That would surely make it interesting since in thisbook they all seem like one dimensional cardboard characters. A book that isshamelessly self-indulgent, extremely trite and filled with ?I ,me myself?moments (sorry, make that chapters) would have benefited from less whining andmore depth. Her self-deprecating humour and her inclusion of candid comments ofher friends come by like a breath of fresh air but these are too few and far between.
