So many have talked of the movies but few have actually read the novels they are based off of. The Fellowship of the Ring is the first in a trilogy that follows the trail of a young hobbit and his friends through the world of Middle Earth, where you will encounter evil, disgusting Orcs, the majestic and regal Elves, the haughty dwarves, wizards, Belrogs and demons. It is impossible not to become entranced with the literary genius that is Tolkien. As you dive into this world of fantastical magic, the bonds of friendship and loyalty are constantly put to the test. While some fall, the most unlikely characters stay strong to the end. The main characters are four hobbits: Frodo, Sam, Merry & Pippin, 2 Men: Aragorn and Boromir, an elf: Legolas, (Arwen comes in throughout the novels as well), a dwarf: Gimli and a wizard: Gandalf the Grey. Each with their own experiences, Boromir is the son of the steward of Gondor, Aragorn is half elf and The King of Gondor, Gimli is son of Gloin (from the Hobbit), Legolas is a Prince of the Woodland Realm. These nine companions battle the growing evil and darkness of Sauron who is devouring Middle Earth along with the Orcs and rogue wizards. It is the most enjoyable fantasy and one that is immediately addicting. You want to know what?s going to happen next, there are admittedly some slow sections where there is perhaps too much detail but those are few and far between and the beauty of Middle Earth is so impressed on the reader you forget it is a fictional place! Fast action and even faster paced with attention the smallest detail be it where the last blade of grass existed to where the grandest fortress or palace lay it is an amazing journey to experience again and again, the Fellowship of the Ring will keep you involved from beginning to end.
