The Eye Of The Dragon
(Stephen King)

Publicidade
Once upon a time the uncontested Master of horror.
One day, wishing to offer his daughter a fairy tale, he becomes the surprising narrator of a not less surprising tale.
True fairy tale, punctuated with once upon a time and narrative comments worthy of the best storytellers, the eyes of the dragon is a pleasure for the author and horror stories lovers.
Stephen King introduces the kingdom Delain, Medieval region where one?s happy to live.
At the head of the kingdom, king Roland.
Roland, who runs on arched legs, amateur of wine and hydromel, without any manners but with a big and good heart.
And his right arm and magician, the terrifying Flagg.
Flagg which I knew to have met him trough the pages of the Stand.
The character is dark as possible, handling the trick and magic like no one, of a rare intelligence and aged at least of four hundred years old, Flagg is a master in perfidy.
Its intentions are to plunge Delain in suffering and desolation, to make evil triumph finally and with this intention he will do what ever is in his power to succeed.
But evil always meets, and extremely fortunately for us, obstacles and opponents.
Here, prince Peter.
First born of Roland and Sasha the soft one, heir to the throne of Delain, Peter shows as of his youth qualities of an excellent king.
His kindness, its force, as well mental as physical, makes him a threat for the magician who fears him since he was still and only a child.
In his quest for power, Flagg will be helped in spite of him by small prince Thomas. Benjamin of the royal family, he is born giving death to his mother, although the magician is no stranger to the drama, and will live all his life carrying this burden. Thomas looks like Roland as much as Peter looks like Sasha, and grew up in the shade of his perfect in all points brother.
Lonely and unhappy, he will be an easy prey for Flagg, who will take him in affection as he would with a good dog.
Through the eyes of Nini, the last dragon of Denain, trophy of the king hung in his living room, sheltering a secret hiding place, Thomas sees Flagg bringing a glass of wine to his father.
This one, certainly understanding what is in happening, and refusing to face it, takes fear to the point of falling seriously sick.
When he wakes up a few days later, his father died embanked by a strange evil that consumed him from the inside, Peter is locked up at the top of the Needle recognized guilty of regicide, and Thomas is crowned king of Delain whereas he is yet only one teenager.
Peter did not kill his father, and Thomas knows it.
He does his time, at the top of the highest tower of the kingdom, and spends time looking at the serenity of his city downing.
For any privilege, because the locked up members of the royal family benefit some privileges, he asks for two small things:
As he was well raised by his mother, it claims a towel for each meal he will take.
And to break its trouble, the doll's house - which is in fact the counterpart with the detail close to a house of middle-class man, machines in perfect operating state and pieces of furniture included - of his mother, with which he played being a child.
In tales, as in real life, things are not always what they seem to be.
And this one does not derogate the rule.
Told on the sarcastic tone characterizing Stephen King, the eyes of the dragon is a palpitating tale.
A lesson of courage, ingeniousness, justice.
The tale of a man who wants the death of humanity.
The account of a king who cannot exert.
The account of a child who dreams of another life.
It is opened, one devours the pages, avid to know the continuation, and as always one is disappointed to reach the end.
