The Wisdom Of The Eagle
(JOVACYR, da Penha Bregonci Santos)

Publicidade
The eagle lives 60 years, more or less, but when it's 40 years old it either goes through a transformation or dies. When it reaches 40 years of age, the eagle already has its beak bent by time and cannot catch any prey, its nails very long and also bent cannot hold the prey anymore, its legs old and heavy, cannot take flight; that's when it uses its wisdom and isolates itself at the top of the stone quarry, and starts its recycling. Isolated at the top of the stone quarry, feeling pain and hunger, it starts its journey, first jabbing its beak on the stones until it falls and is replaces by a new one, light and strong. When the new beak is ready, it starts to tear all of its nails off, so that new and sharp ones can grow. After the nail change, the eagle is exhausted, but it can't give in, because it still has to pluck all of its feathers away. And it carries on, plucking feather by feather, so that new ones can cover its body. This entire process takes six months, and then it'll be ready to live a further 20 years. We haven't got feathers, beaks and nails to be replaced so we can recycle our lives, but we have manners, learnings, concepts and habits. Shall we start?
