Bruce Campbell has jumped from the big screen to the small screen to the bookshelf. Best known for his horrific portrayal as Ash in the Evil Dead trilogy, Bruce's career has started and stalled and started over and over. His memoir If Chins Could Kill: Confessions Of A B Movie Actor takes readers through his life from one hilarious moment to the next. The book starts off with a roar with a foreword written by the famous Raimi brothers, Ivan and Sam, and continues with stories of his childhood. And oh what a childhood it was! He takes his readers deep into the psyche of a young boy with two brothers who had, well, very vivid imaginations. This is the funniest part of the book by far. Once you get through the childhood years of the Campbell boys, it's all about the acting. We follow Bruce through his beginning in plays to meeting his Evil Dead pals. Bruce explains the ins and the outs of the process of raising money by begging, borrowing, and borrowing some more. It is truly fascinating to read about what had to be done to get him and his now-famous friends to where they are today. He weaves stories of being on Hercules and meeting one celebrity after another, and even goes so far as to talk about the writing of the book. He leaves no stone unturned, and he flips each one over with a punchline. The book is chock full of pictures of the Evil Dead group, as well as a variety of other pictures clearly pulled from Bruce's own photo albums in order to bring the reader further into his life. He even went so far as to provide us with drawings of camera contraptions the gang created along the way (and, of course, the Campbell boys' brilliant devices of mayhem). In all, Bruce paints a full picture of his life, everyone in his life, and how he got the life he has today.
