Mrs. Frisby And The Rats Of Nimh A.k.a The Secret Of Nimh

One of Mr. 'OBrien's famous Children's Literature works of all time. "Aw, rats!" How many times as parents have we heard that remark? Well this story is full of them . .Rats that is. But, these rats are highly intellegent rats. Mrs. Jonathan Fisby has a terrible problem to solve while faced dealing with her youngest son, Timothy who lies ill with pneumonia. Moving day is near and Mrs. Frisby must move her family home from under the rosebush, before Farmer Fitzgibbions starts plowing. But Timothy can't be moved for three weeks. Mr. Ages, the professor sort of rat, gives Mrs. Frisby some powder medication for Timothy and advises that she speak to Nicodemus. She tells Mr. Ages she's been to see the Great Owl. He can't believe it, there has been no one to see the Great Owl. Owls and Rats don't get along! Throughout the story, Mrs. Frisby is introduced to more of the Rats of NIMH, which inturns stands for the National Institution of Mental Health. They find out she is Mrs. Jonathan Frisby. It was her husband that saved the Rats of NIMH from the Laboratory. Now, they are living on the Fiztgibbons farm, but are stealing the electric. As she visits Nicodemus, he has a special gift Johathan left for her, a stone. And, there is an inscription on it. When worn by one with great courage it speaks, and glows. One day Mrs. Frisby volunteers to give Dragon the cat sleeping powders, her becomes greater as she delevops friendships throughout the story with the Rats of NIMTH and and caring for her family. Knowing she must have the courage to continue on to help get Timothy well enough to be ready for moving day. As it approaches, Mrs. Frisby is welcomed with a great deal of thank-yous for her help and for Jonathan's as well.
My advise is to read the story and see the movie, it will bring great pleasure. You can also vist web-sites under The Secret of NIMH for more information and great adventures. Then, you can unlock any door.
