The author obtains the attention of lay young readers in a fantastic trip in the world of the occidental philosophy, through Sofia a girl who is going to complete fifteen years? The story starts when Sofia finds in her mailbox an anonymous letter addressed for her, from then on she starts to receive postal cards, notes of a Major of the Lebanon to be you deliver to his duaghter a girl called Hilde who also will have her birthday in the same date that her, however of which she knows nothing. Although she never have heard a word about this strange Major Sofia goes perceiving that he knows everything about her. The author beguins with it to all develop the romance that involves the readers in a fantasy world where all will dive in the fascinating world of the occidental philosophy. Therefore a philosophy professor goes explaining to Sofia in a very special way the main occidental philosophical thoughts, and the reader flies toghether with the heroine through a vivid path where the author unmasks the complex stories of philosophy in form of letters or friendly and sufficiently informal colloquies. The author uses all the resources that he can obtain to leave philosophy something of easy agreement, using toys and until cake forms to explain the platonic theory of the ideas. The philosophy lessons are taken off Sofia's day by day, and in this context the presence of Hilde and her distant father the Major became very present to Sofia, the outcome of the story promise to be the day of Sofia and Hilde's birthday, because the Major promises to the Hilde a gift that will reveal for Sofia the mystery. The professor continues present all the time, Sofia does not understand how she dreams with Hilde, sees her, speaks with her, but the other girl never answers or gives a sign to be seeing her also. Everything seems so strange until the arrival of Hilde's birthday and the father gives her a book called the World of Sofia, and Sofia also receives one. The mystery is unmasked, Sofia, the professor and all that were part of her life were nothing but characters of the book that the Major wrote so that his daughter Hilde knew everything about Philosophy in a way that she would never forgot. Although Sofia at beginning was sad for not being a real girl, the professor shows her that as a character she would be eternal, and could help many other girls to learn philosophy. With this the author obtained in a shining way that the readers also learned a lot, completely involved in the plot!
