Even the winds and waves obey Him?

Upon studying Matthew 8:23-27 I noticed that we, in the midst of our trouble, often forget that Jesus has the power to calm winds and waves.

The disciples followed Jesus into a boat and the passage states ?without warning? a furious storm came upon them on the lake. So furious, in fact, that the waves swept over the boat.

Many times we go through life and everything seems fine, however suddenly without a warning, trouble comes upon us. When I was reading about the storm that came upon them I thought to myself that these men just thought this would be a trip across a lake?not a problem, however when waves started sweeping over the side of the boat, they began to panic as we often do when problems seem to attempt to close in on us.

During all this time, Jesus was in the boat sleeping. Now I can just imagine that picture. If the wind was blowing strong enough to have waves sweeping over the boat, it had to pitching to and fro and not anywhere near steady, yet, Jesus slept. I also recognized that even though the boat was unsteady these people were able to get to Jesus. No matter how bad the trouble looks and is?if you have the mind and intent to go to Him, he can and well be reachable.

So, I see this picture in my mind of all these people in a state of panic coming up to a sleeping form, Jesus. In the midst of a storm in your life, there?s a peace and stillness available to you through Jesus. They began to cry out save us we are about to drown. Now Jesus replied to them, ?You of little faith, why are you so afraid?? These same people had just witnessed various miracles and knew that He was capable of doing remarkable acts, but yet they still were in a state of panic.
We know the Lord and know that He is great and nothing is impossible to Him, YET, we just like those disciples have to fight the flesh when trouble rises. We get caught up in the drama of the situation. These men, no doubt were getting wet from the waves so this storm was all too real to them; just as our problems are all too real to us. But Jesus is waiting for us to acknowledge His presence and have faith that He?s handled it.

Jesus chastised them for having little faith but He then got up and rebuked the waves and it was ?COMPLETELY calm?.
The calmness didn?t arrive eventually or gradually, but upon Jesus rebuking the wind and waves immediately at that time it was completely calm.

Upon witnessing this act the men were amazed. When we see the work of Jesus, we are amazed because many times even though men will try to explain things away, Jesus can work in such away where there are no explanations.

The men asked, ?What kind of man is this? Even the winds and waves obey Him. If He can calm the winds and waves, I?m sure there isn?t anything going on in your life that He can?t handle?
