Lassie is a Collie that lives in Greenall Bridge, Yorkshire. This remote part of Northern England knows well of Lassie. Lassie represents a sort of pride that cant be bought for the poor people of Greenal Bridge. Joc Carraclough (Timmy) comes home from school one day to find his father has sold the dog. It is Depression era--- and they sell Lassie to a pompous Duke. Lassie comes home twice and is returned each time.
