The Fountainhead
(Ayn Rand)
The Fountainhead is an enduring piece of literature that can be cherished decades after decades. It is a story about Howard Roark,a drop out of from the Architectural college who survives and makes it big in the cut throat world of competitors.A person with humble background with his grit and determination conquers his dream.Despite repeated failures in profession and personal life, his attitude and fiercy nature to succeed makes him emerge a winner straight up.A man who does not let any one tamper with his skills,a man who is not shrewd but skillful.A man who knows his work and his love for his work that he could disregard rest, food, comfort and all pleasures to attain professional satisfaction.A beautifully architectured novel by Ayn Rand which encompasses success and failures going hand in hand.Patience and focus are the driving forces which makes one touch the skies. As rightly said..FORTUNE FAVORS THE BRAVE....The book covers passion for ones work and determination not monetory benefits. And that is in display by the character Howard Roark.Howard Roark, the man with fire in his belly, takes all failures in his stride and contines with his drive till finally it is acknowledged. Its about Dominique Francon who solely recognizes Howards zeal and dedication for his profession at the same time tries to wilfully and unwillfully tries to destroy him.Who betrays him yet surrenders to him;who understands him yet feigns ignorance. The fountainhead revolves around the ever existing hunger of man for power, fame, name and money. The extent to which a man can go to attain all this. That even the value of anyone's life and emotions are a cheap commodity in the race to achieve it all.Its a materialistic world and once one has had the taste of all this, other things come little too easy. The book is an all time classic explaining it all.Howard Roark is a character to fall in love with. The minute descriptions of his characteristics are awesome.A must read for all.
