The Catcher In The Rye
(J.D. Salinger)

Publicidade
What happens when a young man, so young he is still in high school, becomes disenchanted with the "phoniness" of the adult world? This is a question that J.D. Salinger explores in his book, "The Catcher in the Rye." Salinger tells the story of Holden Caulfield, an under acheiving yet bright young man, who runs away from his high class, private boarding school, before the administration has a chance to kick him out for a lack of academic performance. Holden leaves his school in secret, but can not yet return home for fear that his parents will discover that he has been kicked out of yet another expensive boarding school. Instead, the reader gets an opportunity to join him in an adventure through the city of New York. Holden comes into contact with an array characters, all adults, whom he soon discovers are all "phony," in one way or another. He quickly becomes disenchanted with the adult world and decides to go see his kid sister for a little dose of reality. A wonderful, classic book that should be required reading for all college graduates about to enter the work force.
