This book is the most important book of my life. As I was reading it , I realized that the Hurricane was tell more than just a story. I could see it jumping off the pages. Its certainly a documentary of life lived in the centre of hell. The greatness of this books is that , it takes away the awareness that you are actually reading a book. Rubin is my hero. This man is a Legend , who rose to extra-ordinary heights to reinstate , the pride , the dignity that we humans are rightfully entitled to.

In the very first paragraph of the book , Rubin say that " Hurricane was the professional name that he acquired in the Ring. I strongly believe without any ambiguity that the birth of the hurricane took place on the very minute , he stepped into Trenton Prison. This man posses all the characteristics of a Hurricane , both physically and Meta- Physically. He spoke hate. He became a Fighting machine and believe me he was not giving vent to his pent up emotions.

The book is not to move us emotionally and make us feel sorry for him. Its is to awake us from our grave which are dominated by materialistic and pragmatic world. It would be unfair and dis- respect to him , if we even dare to imagine what he has been through. And the only powerful driving force , the intensity that kept him alive , inspired him , motivated him , was not hope , love or compassion but Hatred. He longed for nothing , desired nothing , imagined nothing. Just kept on fuelling the Hurricane inside him , fortifying it , craving for freedom , fighting the ferocious Hurricane .

He was Prizefighter both on and off the ring. A man of immense courage , unleashed within him. Rubin and his book have eventually induced me and exposed the Hurricane inside me that I was fighting and had locked up since two yrs. Now that I know him , I know who I m. Hate is something not to be hated. It's a Powerful weapon. It should be unleashed and tamed in a sensible manner. This book has stripped the courage which I never knew excited within me. Reading this book make my life more dignified and respect the fact that , I m a Human. It gives me insight about the power the color Black beholds and the racial Injustice , prejudice that prevails in this selfish and inequitable society. It was a Shame to see justice, go silent into the dark.

Rubin's life has Transcend our life somewhere or other. It Reinforces the Human Spirit and builds a strong trust that truth will set us Free. I have longed to meet many great people that have inspired me. But a luminary Force of such magnitude , I look forward to encounter it with much more eagerness.

Lastly , I would like to quote a scene from the movie where Rubin is released and he come out of the State Court. The crowd goes crazy just to see a glimpse of the Hurricane and so does the Press to capture him with so many enthusiastic questions. And he looks up in the sky with proud , respect and dignity. He taste freedom , smell it .A sensation of rejuvenation radiates around him. He is so engrossed into the beauty of the fresh new world , that his ears falls deaf to cheering crowd.

Then a reporter ask , " Mr. Carter....Mr. Carter --- Now that you are out are you still gonna be the Hurricane". Rubin pauses of a second , smiles at him and looks straight into his eyes and say
"Oh , I ?ll always be the Hurricane and Hurricane is Beautiful."
