This fiction novel is the continuation of the story ?the Hitchhiker?s guide to the galaxy,? with full of events having unbelievable sequences. When the previous novel is about to be completed, all those hitchhikers were severely attacked by Vogon ship. Therefore, Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Trillian, and Zaphod Beeblebrox are supposed to leave the planet Magrathe. All these comrades are given a helping hand during the attack of Vogon by a forefather of Zaphod, Zaphod Beeblebrox the Fourth. As soon as the attack is over surprisingly Zaphod and Marvin disappears in search of another hitchhiker who went on an intergalactic cruise his name ?Zarniwoop.? Meanwhile, the rest receive the message ?wait? from the computer in the office of Zarniwoop. Zaphod later meets Zarniwoop after his detour to the Frogstar system. Zaphod when he returns from the Frogstar system, comesup with the model of ?Heart of Gold? in his jacket pocket and joins all the rest. The model later resumes its full size and becomes a complete ship ready for their course of journey to ?The Restaurant at the End of the Universe,? the place to which Zaphod had promised to take all of them. Zaphod and Ford together steal a space ship belonging to the 'Disaster area' while they return from the restaurant. It?s a stunt ship used to provide backing effect for a rock concert. This stolen space ship has got no guiding system so, all those in the ship were supposed travel all the places where the ship takes them. Arthur and Ford later manage to catch the Golgafrinchan Ark Fleet Ship B, but later crash lands in a prehistoric Earth. They realize that the people they meet there are the ancestors of the modern humans and have not proper planning of their activities. Frustrated Arthur decides to find out the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything using the rabbit-skin scramble bag by pulling out letters. He gets a result stating ?what do you get when you multiply six by nine,? by the time he runs out of that planet. Zaphod and Trillian return to the ?Heart of Gold,? Marvin stays in the stunt ship repairing the teleport later rescued by the scrap metal merchant. Although this story has some deviations from its previous radio version, has got its own characteristic features that stimulates the readers to read non-stop. In general, its more interesting to read comparatively with its previous part 'The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the galaxy.'
