?The Hound of the Baskervilles? (1902).
Sherlock Holmes examines the stick a visitor left behind the night before, and correctly describes the man he has never seen. Watson is amazed at Holmes?s abilities. He meets Dr. Mortimer, the stick?s owner, who returns to their apartment with an old manuscript he wants to show Holmes. Holmes and Dr. Watson learn about the death of Hugo Baskerville, whose mischievous actions caused his own violent death and started the curse of the Baskerville family. The manuscript states that many Baskervilles have been unhappy in their deaths. Their lives have ended suddenly, and the circumstances of their death were violent and mysterious. Dr. Mortimer also shows Holmes the article from the local newspaper, which covers the facts in connection with the recent death of Sir Charles Baskerville. Dr. Mortimer gives Holmes some additional information.
Holmes already has some ideas. As usual, he ?travels? to the crime scene with the help of strong tobacco and detailed maps. Meanwhile, the young baronet, Sir Henry Baskerville, arrives in London. Dr. Mortimer brings him to Baker Street apartment to meet Holmes. Sir Henry receives a warning note advising him to stay away from the moor. While he stays in London, more strange things happen. He is being followed, and somehow one of shoes tends to disappear. He informs Holmes about these events.
Sir Henry and Dr. Watson leave for Baskerville Hall and meet the servants. The house is very old, the locals seem rather eccentric, the landscape is ominous - but this is just the beginning. As soon as Sir Henry adjusts to his new life in the estate, more and more unusual secrets seem to surface. Sir Henry is growing very suspicious. Who is hiding in the mire? Who are the neighbors? Why does the curse of Hugo Baskerville still haunt his family? The most astonishing things are yet to be discovered. Only Sherlock Holmes can solve the mystery of the Hound of the Baskervilles.
