Beyond The Oasis
(Ryan Orr)
At the turn of the century a nine-year old boy hides in a crate to be with his father. His father is a respected doctor on an expedition to Africa to find what he believes is the center of civilization, long lost to the ages. The hand picked expedition includes students of archeology, palenotology, relic hunters, dreamers, a young man that is looking for answers about his missing grandfather, and entrepreneurs. The bad guys include snakes, cannibals and headhunters, poison darts, not to mention some of the things they find... that are dead. That is not where the nightmare ends, it hasn't begun. Near the edge of the tropical forest they find what could be the first... well you need to read that, but they cannot get to it. A few miles away the jungle ends and the great sands begin, and that is where they find what they shouldn't have found. "It's all a mistake, a terrible mistake!" Does not help when the terror in the jungle is not from space, or monsters, but from civilizations long gone. In the late 18 hundreds man had come out of the dark ages. Scientists began scoffing at the unknown, "It's just a matter of time before we find out everything." Those in historical and scientific fields will love this book, at least they should, but it was written for boys 9 to 16, but in our opinion, everyone will love this book.
