Peshawar Does Not Want To Host Odi

Karachi: Peshawar?s cricket administration is unwilling to host the second one-day international between India and Pakistan, scheduled on February 8, a source has revealed. A Pakistan Cricket Board official yesterday confirmed that Peshawar association was not in favour of hosting the tie on the aforesaid date, as it fell within the first ten days of Muharram. ?Officials feel they would face problems as not many people would support the match in the conservative province,? the source told Mid Day yesterday, confirming that the cricket board was already looking into the issue. ?Board president Shaharyar Khan will have talks with government Officials to sort out the matter. If negotiations fail, the match may be shifted to Lahore,? the source also said. PCB has already switched the venues for the first two one-dayers because police officials in Rawalpindi refused to provide enough security if the match was held on the February 8. PCB flooded with ticket requests The Pakistan Cricket Board?s ticket agents have been flooded with requests from Indians and Pakistanis residing abroad for the sale of tickets for the forthcoming series against India. However, the board is waiting for a final reconciliation of the ticket sales and distribution for the recent England series before it gives a fresh contract for the Indian series. Indians need to have booked tickets to apply for a visa. The Pakistan government has said it would issue upto 8,000 visas to Indian visitors for the series.
