Douglas Adams my mind is still stuck somewhere at the end of the
galaxy!One long Christmas eve back in the 80's I discovered The
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. And read it aloud to my unsuspecting
dinner guests.Little did they know that they would be my prisoner and
Douglas Adams captive audience while I told the entire book aloud which
took twenty Four Hours indeed this is one worth while delightful
speculative read.
Which makes one truly wonder if the universe does actually equate to a
single number life the universe and everything in a nut shell and how
bizarre that this tale could leave such lasting emotion even in me the
hard shelled writer! And it also makes you wonder just how far we have
come and just how far we are going to go!Yet humanity
with all it's advancements and insight can never cure the emotion
that runs through The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy.And that is the
strong and undeniable sense of lonliness! And utter
sense redundancy that when ever mankind is on the verge of
understanding once and for all it becomes either a simple answer or a
total mystery yet again! in mankind's frustration this book lends a
sense of wonder to the galaxy and mankinds unmistakable
relationship and emotional bond with it.This was a favorite that
stayed in my mind space for over a twenty year time span making me
think whole heartedly about the emotional nature of mankind reaching
out into space with all of the character that humanity is!! I did create a few Douglas Adams fans that cold
December night the mind of invention opening like a great
speculative mouth nothing is impossible after The Hitchiker's Guide To
The Galaxy. A book that inspired many a thought on man's speculation for invention.
This is the
only book that really made me think of space or outer space as if it
were a small town or rather a universe, with feeling!
