The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
(Douglas Adams)

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galazy written by Douglas Adams is now celebrating it's 25 year. I read it first way back then and recently and no matter how many times I read it, it never fails to give me uncontrollable bouts of laughter.

Arthur Dent is a normal human being who is highly concerned that his house is going to be knocked down in order to make way for an intestellar bypass. Being only human, Arthur does not fully understand the full picture, the entire earth is about to be blasted because it is in the way. Ford Prefect is a researcher from the planet of Betelgeuse -does that ring a bell - and before Arthur can comprehend any of this new information he is rapidly whisked away to a Vogan space cruiser....and the story begins.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galazy is a uniquely amusing, witty and hilarious story about the story or this normal human man Arthur Dent and it is surely one of the worlds most entertaining books that has ever been written. The story would not be suitable for younger children as the wit would be above their heads. The characters within the book are exceptional and I would highly recommend it as a mini-masterpiece.

They say that only time will tell. Well, now celebrating it's 25th anniversary I think that Douglas Adams has a strong base of fans which I would almost compare to the trekkies. I loved this book the first time around and the TV programme and I love it 25 years later.
