"the Guru's Role"
(R.Vasumathi)
Guru is a person who stands as the beacon light to dispel the ignorance in our minds and also to remove the external darkness within which we are engulfed owing to the indifferent and negative attitudes which we have developed towards our lives. In short, a spiritual Guru or spiritual Mentor is one who imparts knowledge to his disciples and ultimately enabling his students to tread the righteous path leading to salvation. As soon as wisdom dawns in our minds, we become the enlightned ones and thus the mind is enlightened without entangling itself to the worldly attachments. Thus it be undoubtedly said that without a Guru's helping hand, our lives would be miserable and a Guru plays a very pivotal role through whose help and guidance alone we can put an end to all the miseries of life. He acts as a mediator between The Supreme and ourselves and thus helps in breaking the barriers between the two. A real burning zeal to benefit by his contact results in perceptible improvement in ones temporal and spiritual condition. It can mould one quickly into a higher being with capacities and achievements that are of the most importance in the achievements of one's goal. A Guru worship without meditation is like taking rice without butter, ghee, or milk. The flower of the ceremony of worship is meditation and the fruit is realisation of Supreme Bliss.
