A Modern Fairytale
I didn't want to buy the book because I had just read the words, "I wish there were someone waitng for me somewhere," and that they would be "beautiful to look at." There is nothing one can say about this since there is nothing more to be said about it. That is what I understood so very well when I read those words. But I wanted to go on to something else.
The author offered me the opportunity to dive right into the book, which I did do.
The characters in this story are touching and endearing. One would llike to be percieved this way somewhere in the world.
It's the rebellious and excluded side of their personalities that attracts our attention and gives them their charm.
Anna Gavalda takes us into the artistic world of painting, the theater, and haute cuisine through some of her knowledge in these areas. There you have it-a bit of emotion, rebelliousness, and a certain culture discovered, themes that are not incompatible with one another in the author's fairytale kingdom.
This book is an optimistic outburst about human behavior and gives us a little bit of a respite from reality.
All of this is to be found in this pleasurable and easy to read book. I had a good time readiing this book, which was a prelude to a dream (I read in bed before falling to sleep.).
I recommend this book to anyone who, in the depths of their heart, has remained a child.
