El Palacio De La Luna
(Paul Auster)

Publicidade
The Palace of the Moon is another one of the almost perfect stories to which Paul Auster already has been to us accustoming book after book. In this case it relates the life to us of Frame Stanley Fogg, a boy whose father has left it and whose mother dies, growing up then with its uncle, a musician of mediocre jazz and little talented father, in spite of which it manages to give to Frame a happy childhood. The arrival to the University of Frame presents/displays the first argumental jump to us, it is here where our protagonist begins to descend in an abandonment state, isolation and ensoñación, that nonsingle it forces it to leave its studies, but to culminate living in the street and eating of the sweepings. This stage in the life of Frame finalizes when it is rescued by his friend and a girl who would become the love of her life. The second stage of this story begins here, not less fascinating than the previous one. In where already recovered Frame it begins to work like secretary of a old painter whom it loves to write its biography. Auster introduces with masters another story within the main story, almost a story of adventures, that it is the life of of this painter which sometimes left everything and one went to the desert of the average North American west to develop its work. Clear that with this writer we must hope that the chance does his, and this old one turns out to be the grandfathers of Frame and the one that puts it in contact, of an indirect and sútil way with its father whom never it had known. The outcome of this encounter is not nothing happy and Frame returns to the solitude, leaving to its fiancèe and her New York city, sending itself to one it ventures by America that culminates in the Oceano Pacific. What is what something so fascinating does of this story? In the first place the narrative quality, it is a text that catches of principle to aim. Secondly its argumentales turns, that they cause that the reader does not know as is going to continue the history and that will happen with its personages. In this Auster novel it approaches the subject of the swings of the life, of as it can go of the solitude to the love, of the hopelessness to the hope, of the happiness to the frustration. It really shows to us, as the men and women we are exposed to that our existence changes from a little while to another one radically.
