Invention of computer
The basic thing a computer does is calculation like adding
up and taking away. Over two thousand years ago the greeks
had a very simple machines tohelp them do they sums. It
was alled abacus and used beeds sliding on wires to stand
for units, tens and so on. This was not really a coputer
because it was worked by hand. Both traders and early
scientists had to spend a lot of time doing sums. A
brilliant mathematician,Wilhelm Laibniz,complained in
1671, that man had tolose hours, like slaves inlabour at
calculatin,he thught machines could do it instead. In the
last century an English man charles Babage, delighted an
analyticalengine using hundreds of logs todo
calculations, but not complete it. In 1890 the united
States Census results were worked out bymachines. They
used cards with holes punched in them to represent
information like people?s age and race. Soon punched cards
machines were ued for accounting too. Early alculating
Machine were very slow becausethey used lots os moving
metal parts. Faster machines had to use electronic
calculator was the British Colossus built in 1943. It was
used for breaking enemy codes. The first general
purpose,computer was the American ?ENIAC?(Electronic
Numbeical Integrtor and Calculator)onstructred at
Univiersity of Pennsylvenia in1945. It was a huge machine
weighting 27tonnes and used an enormovey amont of power-all
lights ?on area dimmed when the machine was switched on.
