The founder of Islam was
Prophet Mohammad. He was born at Mecca inArabia I the year
570 A.D. His father Abdullah was petty merchant.
Mohammad lost hs parents in his childhood and was brought
up byhs uncle and grandfather. After growing intoa young
man,he married a rich widow Khathija and managed her
business. They had four daughters and wo sons. Mohammed
formhis early childhood had a religious bent of mind. He
moved with Jews and Christian traders. He used to spend
severalnights in meditatin in themountains of Hira nead
Mecca. He was agitated inmind toknow as to why the great
God whomanifests himself through his choosen
representatives had not chosen to uplife his people. The
people of that period were steeped in ignorance and
followed superstitious and meaningless customs. In his
ortieth year,Gabriel,an Angel appeared to him near Hira and
made him to reaise that,He(Mohammad)was the prophet of
God. After this revelation,?Mohammed veryoften used to
hear these words. Indue course he became a ?Realised
Soul?and proclaimed this truth of the people. His wife and
childredn were his first disciples. Mohammad preached that
God is one and He(Mohammad)was his prophet. He condemned
Idol worshipand superstitious practices. This proclamatin
of Mohammed wasnot received well by Arabs whosorwhipped
many Gods and indlulged in Superstitious practices. The
Wealthy and powerful classes of Arabs were annoyed because,
his teachings were against their depp rooted beleiefs. So
they revolvted aginast him, in the year 622 A.D. and drove
him away from Mecca. Mohammad migrated tomadina intht
year. This event in historyis called ?Hijra?the beginning
year of Mohammad Era. The teachings of Mohammad Islam:God
is one.Man is non entity. The duty of man is to surrender
himself to God totally and carryout his wish. Islam means
to sub mit and surrende oneself to God. Muslims have great
regard for jewish prophets but they donot accept Jesus as
the son of God. Like Christians,Muslims alsobeleive inlife
after death. Mohammad preached that on the last dayof
judgment, one has to suffer or enjoy fruits of his good or
bad deeds. Man has to suffer the consequences of his own
actions, good or bad. Islam teaches worship of one
god, univiersalbrotherhood and equality. Muslims all over
