The problem investigated were grammatical error in writing. The subject used were 101 professional men and women between ages 40 to 60. Eighty-five percent of the people was known and others were picked among known local people.They represented 63 separate occupations. The methods used were taking a poll and constructing a questionnaire of 55 sentences. Sending numbered questionnaires to identify the responders, and enclosed self-addressed stamped envelopes with each one. In the questionnaires included errors in stardard usage in each sentence. Listed was three choices: Does not bother me; Bothers me a little; Bothers me a lot. The responses to the survey was high. Eighty-four people returned their questionnaires. Fifty-two responed with written comments. recognizing limitations in this investigation i have made changes both in my textbook and in my teaching.
