Fad diets often
mnake promises that are untrue or unsafe. They often
recommend unhealthy activities which are too good to be
true. There are many weight loss and maintenance
progammes,which can make it hard to tell a good programme
from a bad one. But learn to consider their reliability and
ask questions to make your decisin. Losing weight and
building your physical fitness are great goals.
However,following the latest fad diet can have some
negative effects on your health. So, here are some guides
to help you spot a fad diet. Impossible promises if you
read about a slimming diet that promises to make you lose
five kilos in five days,then beware this is a fad diet.
The human body is not geared to lose realweight derived
from fat insuch a short time. Human metabolism has its own
clock and anydiet that promises you a loss of more than 0.5
to one kilogram inseven days,is pulling the wool over your
eyes. Another distressing aspect of these impossible
promise diets is that you tend to regainal the weight you
have lost in record time and often shoot upto a new high.
This type of slimming diet can easily trap you in the
snares of yo-yo dieting and set youon the road of perpetual
dieting. Beware of fad diets that tell you to eat only one
category of food,eat only one category of food,eg only
protein or only fruit. Let?s have a look at the later type
of diet. fruit and begetables are brimming with
antioxidants, vitamins,bioflavonoids,dietary fibre,and
rotective nutrients,but if you are told to only eaet fruit
and vegetables to lose weight,you will be doing yourself

based on fresh,raw fruit and or vegetables is perfectly
acceptable rovided you don?t?t try and carry on with this
type of eating for weeks on end. If you do, youmay lose
weight,but will be in danger of developing all kinds of
deficiencies Fruit and vegetables are brimming with
goodness,but are deficient inprotein,iron,calcium and many
other minerals vitamin b12 and omega-fatty acids. To
remain healthy and lose weight you nedd to eat a mix of
foods, nt just one category so, if you hear of a slimming
diet that tells youto cut out all protein or a carbohydrate
or all fat then you know it is not balanced and can lead to
allkinfs of problems. Very low energy diets are sometimes
used totreat people suffering form gross obesity. In
general,this type of diet should only be sued under the
strict supervision of a medical doctor and a clinical
dietician. If you are given a slimming diet which
restricts your food intake to a few lettuce leaves and the
off tomato, and you geet so hungry that your head spins and
yu fell faint all the time, then you know that this is a
fad dist. Youmay lost weight on this kind of diet,but you
won?t be able to keep it upand once you stop,your body goes
into an overdrive to try and restore its normal balance
