Things Fall Apart?
(Chinua Achebe)
WHY THINGS FELL APART ? Okwonko the tragic figure of the novel encountered innumerable hardships. He found it really hard to steer his way ahead while clinging close to his conventions & clinging hard to retain the old values that his civilization was rapidly losing its track off. He was reluctant to accept the changes of the European World. The core issue of the novel remains that one should not lose one's identity in changing World but at the same time the fact that remains to be stressed upon by the author is that one should welcome new ideas & even if one doesn't appreciate it he must give space& not revolt against the new modern ideas. As the novel said "Age was respected among the people but achievent was revered." Okwonko was not dismissed as disspiated person as his father Unoka was considered to be.
