Jean-Luc Romand is a mistery for everyone who know his history. A lie of twenty years came to an end in an awful tragedy: he killed his wife, his two children and his parents. Furthermore than a crazy gossip, the autor understood the issues of this affair. He understood the importance of the identity in this affair. Who is Jean-Claude Romand? Does he know himself, can we know that through the fog of a lie which became obsessful? What do we know about the others, about those who are our relatives, how much can they foul us? further this question, there is also this dramatic fact who highlight the absolute evil, which can't be understood. L'adversaire (the Opponent). The book isn't a simple tell of this minor new and of it's psychologic explorations. The autor is telling about himself faced to the horror, explaining the origine and the writing of his novel which drived him into facing Jean-Claude Romand. He think about our relation with this event, those of the visitors who came to meet him into the jail, lawyers, people who testified, journalists. All those reactions that he gaves us ask us : How can we cope with this history out of our beaten tracks? The book is good because it transformate the simple minor new into a research about history, about the character and about the context to ask yourself about the identity, about the forgivness, about the religion and our relationship with the evil.
