The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
(Douglas Adams)
Confusion and chaos rule the galaxy in this excellent book which proves that written media and slapstick comedy DO go together as Arthur, Ford, Trillian, Zaphod and Marvin make their way through the galaxy. Whether it's hitchhiking onto Vogon ships and being jettisoned into space or reaching infinite improbability, this book is filled with laughs. The whole story starts with everyday troubles for your everyday man. Arthur Dent is your average man. But today won't be Arthur's average day. Today something spectacular will happen. In a few minutes, the world will end. Ford Prefect, Arthur's friend who named himself after a car after mistaking the dominant lifeforms on the planet, is not what he seems. Let's just say he's not from around here. Together and with a little help from infinite improbablity, they will find themselves on the Heart of Gold with not so strange strangers. Much to everyone's surprise, Arthur, whom has never left the planet earth, is in aquaintance with both members of the ship, Trillian and Zaphod, having had Trillian stolen from him at a party by Zaphod. Marvin, the robot assigned to the ship, has a personality chip and blankets all the happenings with just enough depression to save the day several times. All in all, this book is nonstop laughter and rivals Mel Brooks in the movie medium. If you have a sense of humor, you will not be able to put this book down so get off the internet, find the book and start reading. You're going to love it. I mean it. Go. I'm not kidding. Leave now. Fine, you obviously don't want to listen to me. I'll just leave then...
