The Divine Comedy
(Dante Alighieri)

Publicidade
There are no words to summarize such an epic masterpiece. The Divine Comedy is not only about the inner torments of a spiritually lost pilgrim in his trip through the Inferno, Purgatory and Paradise. This monumental odyssey depicts in an exceptionally realistic manner every aspect of earthly human life, portraying the contemporary society with its sins and damnations, and its values as well. Reading the epopee one will be terrified by the agonies sinners have to endure, but the most important aspect is to understand the rewards innocent and chaste love brings along. The Divine Comedy is, in fact, an allegory of the growth of the human spirit toward Absolute. And Absolute is God.

Such a deep, compassionate and ethical evaluation of the human nature gives to The Divine Comedy its uniqueness and value as a masterpiece, which found its right place in the Universal Literature.
