Glucose! I
can only summarize this marvelous piece of morden literature by this
one word! Yeah! Every page of THE BURNING SHORE by
Wilbur Smith is a dose of rich and concentrated Glucose!
Determination, dauntless courage of a teenage girl who rises from the
ashes of bad luck to the throne of power, money and passion!
The Heroine
Centaine can only be reffered by one name! Phoenix! Remarkable
little pregnant lady becoms widow on the day of her marriage and set to
sail all the way from England to the dark continent Africa. A
Japanese submarine mistook the red cross ship for a warship and drowns
it. Centain survives by sticking to a log of the wrecked ship and
navigates towards an unknown land through the dark of the night and
roaring sharks. The reader wonders what motivates the girl and
gives her courage to fight all the ordials and unexpectations.
The child who is kicking inside the ninteen year old lass! She is
determined to challenge the nature, God and Sharks to achieve one
goal! To delliver the child on its father's motherland!
She is now
stranded in the Burning Shore of Zambia! The thirst lands of
Kalahari desert! The land of Sahara and Tribal bushmen and
Hunters! Unbelievable plot and unexpected twists of the tale
leaves the reader spellbound for many days! Do you know? I
still believe that, Centaine lives in southern Africa as an one hundred
