Some so called Christians criticize the Freemasons because they accept members who practise the religious teachings of the Wicca. These antimasonics use ill-omened words like 'Devil's worshipper' and 'Satan'. What makes this ironic is that these antimasonics say they are following a religious leader who proclaimed that He loved everyone. Then there are those who say that much of Christianity derives from Wicca, druidism and other pagan sources and that in order to gain a religious monopoly in the 15th century the Christian church ended up destroying the followers of the old church and other heretics. They claim that the church itself developed the myth about the bad religion and mislead people into believing that the wiccas were evil witches who follow their bad religion, kidnap, kill and eat children and sell their souls to the Satan. Many people were killed during these burning times which lasted until year 1792 in Europe and until 1830s in South-America. According to some estimations more than ten million people were killed; some say only 3,000. In all likelihood the real amount is somewhere between 100,000 and 300,000. The Roman Catholic church burned the witches, in Protestant countries they were hanged. The wiccas stayed underground and didn't come public until the mid-20th century. In England the wicca came out of the shadows in 1950s in the books of Gerald Gardner. It has later spread with varying intensity to North-America and Europe. It is quite unknown to the general public because the wiccas keep their beliefs and practises out of the public eye. In North-America those wiccas who practise their religion openly become subjects of persecution more often than the followers of any other religion. Numerous acts of violence, arsons and financial attacs against the wiccas are reported every year. This year there have been shootings, a mass-stoning and a lynching. According to several reports the child welfare inspectors have been lied to about taking children into custody from wicca families because there has been a fear that the children might be sacrifised in satanistic rituals. These peddlers of religious wrath are often very devout and decent yet horribly mislead people. They believe in the false knowledge that has been spread since the Middle Ages. Only in the east coast Massachusetts, South-California and some cities around North-America wiccas can safely break their cover. Everywhere else it is safest for them to keep their religion to themselves. Unfortunately the fact that wiccas remain 'underground' arouses more suspicions. They must have something to hide. This is a situation that does no good for anyone.
