Against All Enemies: Inside America's War On Terror
(Richard Clarke)
Close on the heels of the fourth anniversary of 9/11, we can take some time remember the ghastly tragedy, which shocked the mankind. The fateful morning of September 11, 2001 changed the world politics forever. The explosion at the WTC Towers not only rocked the United States, but also it left the world in shock and anguish. Initially, people could not understand what happened. But within minutes it became clear that terrorists successfully attacked the most powerful nation in the world, making a dent in its strong security system. The attack was the most lethal ever experienced by the USA. It can be measured from the fact that official death toll was over 3,000. The incident on 9/11 changed the economic, social and military situation in the world everyone realized that terrorism should be curbed by all means. Though the Taliban was overthrown in Afghanistan and a popular government came into power, the war on terrorism is far from over. We can recall the strong-worded statement of President George Bush after 9/11, ?Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.?
