Who knew so many garden variety cats existed right under our noses. You almost smell the catitude described and displayed in this small, but compacted book of humorus and delightful quips and captioned comments that make this book what it is...an attractive literary novelty deliberately dedicated to our four legged furry creatures known as animals of the feline persuation.
This is a coffee table display ornament for the cat lover in all of us, and for the potential converts who want to hear the whispered and audible meows in life. Even a casual thumbing through the pages will evenually draw out a remark or comment like "my cat is just like that" or "I've met a cat like that", and thats the beauty and simplicty of a book like this, it draws you in and gets you invovled in the process of identifing the funny things that our furry little friends do in their lives.
The draw back to a work like this is that it is a novelty item. Once read or looked at that is the problem with this sort of writing, its been read and looked at. Like a picture or painting hanging on the wall, after the initial introduction to what it is has run its course, its familiarity makes it just another decoration until the next naive observer discovers it. But is that so bad? Just consider it as an investment. A small investment into initiating social conversation in your home. I, myself, am a cat caretaker. I caretake four fuzzy creatures all with different personalities and needs. That's why this book caught my eye. I felt guilty trying to read the whole darn thing at the bookstore and then trying to remember the funny one and two liners that captioned the companion cat pictures. So I bought the book and have enjoyed the reactions from other unsuspecting visitors to our home who were ambushed by our cats and a book describing cats.
