These little people love chocolate so much that they are paid for their labor in cocoa beans! They also love to sing and you will find that they have a knack for making a song suit any occasion.
The day of the factory visit introduces the readers to the rest of the Golden Ticket holders. These are four beastly children and their indulging parents. As only Roald Dahl can, each child and their nasty habits and personalities are brought to life. You will undoubtedly recognize these characters as children you've most likely encountered at one time or another. Each of these characters suffers the consequences of their actions in hilarious and sometimes fantastical ways. You will find yourself cheering for Charlie Bucket, who comes to the factory with his Grandpa Joe, and ends up leaving with more than he could have ever imagined.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a story that spans generations. It is great as a read-aloud for younger children as well as a novel to be enjoyed by independent readers.
